How to choose the machine that best suits your needs.

Follow this easy guide to find the right machine for your project or business.

Whether it’s filling, capping, labelling, sealing, or a mix of all four, Rentafill’s got the machinery you need to get your production line up and running.

First off, you’ll need to identify which areas of production could be running smoother. This’ll help you figure out what kinds of machines to look at first. Then, dive a little deeper and figure out what kind of specs to look at.

To help ease the burden, we’ve put together some questions that—once answered—will give you confidence in the machine you choose.

Filling Machines

A filling machine is a type of packaging machinery that fills a container to a desired weight, volume, or quantity. There may be some or no human intervention required, depending on the type of product and packaging you choose.

Ask yourself:

  1. Product: What product are you filling? Is it highly viscous, a cream, food-based, or an industrial product? This’ll determine the type of machine and its set up.
  2. Volume: What’s the filling volume? It could be anywhere from 100ml to 4 litres. This’ll determine the size of the machine.
  3. Quantity and timeframe: What quantity of product do you need to fill? How long do you have to complete this project? The equipment’s automation level will depend on the quantity and timeframe of the project.

Capping Machines

Rentafill has a range of capping machines that will cater for the majority of applications; from small vials with tamper-evident closures to dripper bottle caps, trigger bottle caps and wine bottle foil caps.

Ask yourself:

  1. Container and cap: What’s the size of the container and cap? Is it a pump, trigger, dripper cap or foil cap? These factors will determine the type of capper you need.
  2. Quantity and timeframe: What quantity of product do you need to cap? How long do you have to complete this project? The equipment’s automation level will depend on the quantity and timeframe of the project.

Labelling Machines

Creating a pristine and professional finish, labelling machines are often a product’s final destination in a production line. They’re able to apply adhesive labels to a wide range of containers and materials.

The labelling process can be easily streamlined when integrated with a printing machine and conveyor.

Ask yourself:

  1. Container: What’s the size, type and shape of the container? These are all contributing factors labelling machines are designed to cater for. Square, round, flat, and even unusually shaped containers can be processed by different kinds of labelling machines.
  2. Volume: Will the label be clear, opaque, thick, or thin? How the labels are printed and die cut is important. Some machines will only work with labels that are printed and rolled in a certain way.
  3. Quantity and timeframe: What quantity of product do you need to label? How long do you have to complete this project? The equipment’s automation level will depend on the quantity and timeframe of the project.
  4. Labelling can be tricky and intricate at the best of times. However, there’s a science in getting it right and achieving a polished product, every time.

Sealing

To get a professional and hermetic finished product, sealing machines are essential in the manufacturing process.

Sealing machines are a must for manufacturers who want to guarantee airtight quality. Easily adjusted and accessorised, sealing machines can work with a wide range of cap sizes and materials.

Ask yourself:

  1. Type of sealing: What sort of materials are you trying to seal? Does your product require a tamper seal? There are two types of sealing to choose from:
  2. Induction sealing heats the foil inside a cap, welding it to the plastic tube creating a tamper-evident seal.
  3. Tube sealing seals cosmetic tubes by welding the ends together. Large production machines use a heat injection technology to achieve this; smaller machines either use heat bars or ultrasonic technology, which uses friction to weld the plastic inside to out.

And don’t forget the operators!

With any type of machine you choose, don’t forget to take labour into consideration. How many staff do you have on this project? This will influence the level of automation needed from this machine.
